Sorry it's been a while since I've posted but 2018 ended with a very full calendar of events! I couldn't be happier at how 2018 was with my photography and look forward to what 2019 has to offer. I have found that my contact page wasn't working correctly but it now fixed. I can only hope that I haven't missed out on any questions or jobs because of it. Watch for some new pictures to post over the next few weeks as I work through portfolios to bring new images to the table. Have a great week everyone!
So I have to say that 2018 has been a busy year for me. I'm still working through the loss of my mom but family, friends and photography have definitely helped quite a bit. I've just added a new "senior" session for an upcoming 2019 grad that I am so happy with the photos. I hope everyone has been having an awesome summer as we will soon be gearing up for school. Thankfully mine are all grown so we didn't have to battle tax free weekend, uniform or school supply shopping....although I do miss the smell of crayons!
Hello everyone! Sorry it's been a while since I last posted but I have struggled a bit to get back on this track we call life after my mom passed 5 1/2 months ago. Personally I was pushing myself to just move on but the reality is that isn't going to happen.
Happily I will say this has been one of my busiest years doing photography though. I've had 2 referrals from previous jobs and I only hope that it continues for the rest of 2018 as well as for years to come. At this time I'm currently working on finishing up a wedding that I did last weekend that was just gorgeous. I can't wait to finish up their photographs so they have the memories for a lifetime that they deserve. Once they are finished and given to the newlyweds I will post a few on my website for everyone to see. Everyone stay cool as summer is upon us, especially in Texas! -Dawn Just wanted to make sure that everyone had a great weekend before Texas weather changes this week! Looking forward to some Easter pictures soon and so excited that we will hopefully have an abundance of flowers to photograph soon. Have a great week everyone!
I'm sorry that I haven't been on here in a while. On December 28th, 2108 I lost my mom during what we thought would be a routine procedure. Her heart was weak and she was unable to handle the anesthesia and she passed away. Since then I have been trying to grieve as a way to move on. Something that has helped me is the many pictures that we took together, as a family and the ones that I took when she was and wasn't watching. This loss was the reason that I got into photography as they allow you to carry on memories with those you love while they are here and to carry on when they are gone. This year has started our really well for DJFain Photography and I can only hope that my mom will be by my side as I work to increase the jobs as well as continue to allow families to have the memories they need for a lifetime. I had 42 years with my mom and there are so many pictures that over the last 2 1/2 months I still haven't been able to go through them all. Please take time to tell your loved ones that you love them and remember to allows embrace them. We never know if we have tomorrow and I've learned it's best to live each day and cherish those around you! Goodnight supporters and have a great week!
There is that dreaded word "stress"! We all have it and normally on a daily basis. I'm amazed at how stressed I get when I go to a photo shoot. My goal is to do my best job, capture every moment that I can, and not disappoint those that I'm working for. As I go around and photograph the event I normally observe someone that is stressed and it's normally the host or bride. If only it was so easy to just shrug off all the things that cause even the smallest amount of stress our lives would be so much more different. So tomorrow is Friday and I'm going to work on not being stressed for just 24 hours. Not sure how this will work but I will try my best. I urge everyone to take on that challenge for just one day and say TGIF anytime you feel a stresser coming on. Maybe look at a picture of your children, significant other or even your fur-baby! Thanks for following me and have a great night!
Tonight I would like to discuss the word imagine. I was at a meeting where there is a gorgeous salt water fish tank with the most wonderful and colorful fish. To imagine what they are thinking with everyone staring at me reminds me of when I am taking photographs. What could the objects of my photograph be thinking when I point my lens their way? For posed pictures I'm sure its, "Does my hair look OK?", "Do I look fat?", "Is she getting my best angle?", and so on. But for those that you catch in the moment whether it be an action shot or just a group of people talking and laughing are they actually thinking about the picture or are they just living the moment? It's wonderful to imagine the conversations that you are capturing and how the pictures will be perceived when they are delivered. Those are the moments and things that make me really love doing photography. So what are you imagining tonight? Until next time.....
A little over three weeks ago I nearly lost my mother as went code blue in the ER and I made the decision for them to stop CPR. However, she is now back with us and back to her old self before those nightmare days in the hospital ICU. I look back at pictures of me and her when I was a baby and then growing up to include those that we have made sure to take now that we treasure each day. As children we don't always remember those days that are precious to us at a later date. However, documenting all of the little moments make you grateful to have a those pictures when you are older so that you can look back and reflect. I challenge each one of you to go back through your old pictures and see what you are truly grateful for. It may surprise you and stir up old memories as you browse through faded pages of pictures of your family, children and even those adorable fur-babies! Everyone have a great night.
Tonight I am reflecting on why I take photos and do photography. I realized at dinner with my sister and as she pulled out pictures from over 20 years ago that I do it so families have the opportunity to reflect on their lives. There are so many reflections from births, birthdays, engagements, holidays, weddings, and reunions as well as so many more. The pictures that I take capture those moments so that they can be reflected on in later years and by many generations. I may not have large portfolio; however I feel it is diverse and I've taken the time to get to know the families who have let me into some of the most intimate moments of their lives. I ask that each of you take a moment to reflect on your life as well as your family. You may be amazed at things you will remember that were tucked back in a small section of your mind. Have a great night and keep reflecting!
